The password for an HDFC Bank account statement PDF is your Customer ID: the 8 to 10 digit number HDFC assigned when you opened the account. Type it exactly as it is, with no spaces and no extra zeros. If your Customer ID is 42938471, the password is 42938471.
HDFC is the odd one out among Indian banks here: most others use your date of birth somewhere in the password. Your birthday will not open an HDFC account statement. The same Customer ID password applies whether the PDF came by email, from net banking, or from the mobile app.

Where to find your HDFC Customer ID
You never need to guess it; it is printed in several places:
- The statement email itself: the last 3 digits of your Customer ID appear in the e-statement email subject line.
- MobileBanking app: Profile, then My Profile.
- NetBanking: shown on the dashboard after you log in (you use it to log in).
- Any old statement: printed at the top of page 1.
- Cheque book and welcome kit.
HDFC credit card statement password
Credit card statements use a different format: the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITAL letters followed by the last 4 digits of the card number. For Rajesh Sharma with a card ending 3456, the password is RAJE3456. Use the name exactly as printed on the card.
Statements issued before 2019 sometimes used the last 4 digits of the card alone, or your date of birth in DDMM. If the current format fails on an old PDF, try those.
HDFC statement password not working?
- You are entering your date of birth. The single most common mistake, because most other banks use it. HDFC account statements want the Customer ID.
- Extra characters. No spaces before or after, and do not pad the Customer ID with zeros.
- Account vs credit card confusion. The Customer ID opens account statements; card statements want NAME + last 4 digits of the card, in capitals.
- Multiple Customer IDs. If you have more than one relationship with HDFC (for example an old salary account), the statement uses the Customer ID of that specific account.
