HDFC Bank Statement Password

The password of an HDFC statement PDF is your Customer ID. Here is where to find it, what to do when it fails, and how to remove the password from the file for good.

The password for an HDFC Bank account statement PDF is your Customer ID: the 8 to 10 digit number HDFC assigned when you opened the account. Type it exactly as it is, with no spaces and no extra zeros. If your Customer ID is 42938471, the password is 42938471.

HDFC is the odd one out among Indian banks here: most others use your date of birth somewhere in the password. Your birthday will not open an HDFC account statement. The same Customer ID password applies whether the PDF came by email, from net banking, or from the mobile app.

Where to find your HDFC Customer ID

You never need to guess it; it is printed in several places:

Credit card statements use a different format: the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITAL letters followed by the last 4 digits of the card number. For Rajesh Sharma with a card ending 3456, the password is RAJE3456. Use the name exactly as printed on the card.

Statements issued before 2019 sometimes used the last 4 digits of the card alone, or your date of birth in DDMM. If the current format fails on an old PDF, try those.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the password of an HDFC bank statement?

Your HDFC Customer ID, the 8 to 10 digit number printed on your cheque book, shown in the MobileBanking profile, and used to log in to NetBanking. Enter it with no spaces. HDFC does not use your date of birth for account statements.

What is the HDFC credit card statement password?

The first 4 letters of your name in capital letters plus the last 4 digits of the card number, like RAJE3456 for Rajesh with a card ending 3456. This differs from the account statement password, which is your Customer ID.

Where do I find my HDFC Customer ID?

In the MobileBanking app under Profile, on the NetBanking dashboard, at the top of page 1 of any previous statement, in your cheque book, or in the welcome kit. The e-statement email subject line also shows its last 3 digits.

How do I remove the password from an HDFC statement PDF?

Drop the PDF into the free tool on this page, enter your Customer ID once, and download an unlocked copy that opens without a password anywhere. The statement is decrypted in your browser and never uploaded.

Why is my HDFC statement password not working?

Usually because a date of birth is being entered instead of the Customer ID, or a credit card formula is being tried on an account statement. Check for stray spaces, and make sure the Customer ID belongs to the account the statement is for.
