PNG or JPG: which should you convert to?
The right format depends on what is on the page:
- PNG (this tool): lossless. Text stays razor sharp, diagrams and screenshots keep clean edges, and re-saving never degrades quality. The files are larger, especially for photo-heavy pages.
- JPG: compressed. Much smaller files and ideal for photographic pages, but fine text can pick up faint artifacts. Our PDF to JPG converter does the same job with JPG output.
Rule of thumb: documents, slides, and anything with text or diagrams convert best to PNG; photo albums and image-heavy scans are better served by JPG.
