Split PDF
Split a PDF into separate files: one per page, every N pages, or by page ranges. Or pick pages on the preview and extract them into one new PDF. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.
This free tool splits a PDF into smaller PDFs. Drop in the document, choose how to split it, and download the parts: every page as its own file, a new file every few pages, or custom ranges such as 1-3, 4-8 and 9-12. Several files arrive together in one ZIP. No signup, no watermark, no software to install.
Need only part of the document? Keep the default option, click the pages you want on the thumbnail preview, and they are extracted into one new PDF. Everything runs locally in your browser, so the document is never uploaded.
How to split a PDF
- Select your PDF
Drag a PDF into the box above or click to browse. Every page appears as a numbered thumbnail.
- Choose how to split
Pick "Every page as a separate PDF", "Every N pages", or "Custom page ranges" (for example 1-3, 4-8, 9). Each thumbnail shows which file its page will go into.
- Split the PDF
Click "Split PDF". The pages are copied, in order, into the new files on your device. To pull out selected pages instead, keep "Selected pages into one PDF" and click the thumbnails you need.
- Download the files
One file downloads as a PDF; several download together as a ZIP, named after your original with the page numbers. The original document stays complete and untouched.
Four ways to split a PDF
- Every page as a separate PDF. A 20-page scan becomes 20 one-page files, for example to file each receipt or certificate on its own.
- Every N pages. Cut a long file into equal parts: every 2 pages for double-sided forms, every 10 pages to stay under an upload limit.
- Custom page ranges. Type ranges like
1-3, 4-8, 9and each range becomes its own PDF. An open range like10-runs to the last page. - Selected pages into one PDF. Click any pages on the preview, for example 2, 5 and 9, and they are extracted, in their original order, into a single new file.
Splitting copies pages exactly: selectable text, full-resolution images, links, and form fields all carry over into the new files, with no quality loss and no watermark.
Split a PDF to get under an upload limit
Job portals, government forms and email often cap attachments at 1 or 2 MB. If compression alone cannot get a long document under the limit, split it into parts and upload them separately; each part is smaller than the whole. Try compressing the PDF first, and split only when the readable minimum is still too large.
Split vs. remove pages
Split (this tool) turns one PDF into several, or extracts the pages you select. Remove drops the pages you select and keeps everything else in one file. Need to delete two blank scanner pages? Our remove pages from PDF tool is the faster path. Either way the original file on your device stays untouched.

Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Drop the PDF into the tool above, choose "Every page as a separate PDF", and click "Split PDF". Every page becomes its own PDF, and all of them download together in one ZIP. Everything happens in your browser.
How do I split a PDF by page ranges?
Choose "Custom page ranges" and type the ranges you want, for example 1-3, 4-8, 9. Each range becomes its own PDF. The thumbnails show which file each page goes into before you split.
How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Keep "Selected pages into one PDF", click the thumbnails of the pages you want, and click "Extract selected pages". A new PDF containing just those pages downloads immediately.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The pages are copied into the new files locally in your browser, so the document never leaves your device. That makes this safe for contracts, statements, and other private files.
Do the split pages lose quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are: text stays selectable, images keep their full resolution, and links and form fields keep working. There is no watermark.
Why do I get a ZIP file?
When a split produces more than one PDF, the files are packed into one ZIP so your browser downloads them in one go. Open it with your file manager to get the individual PDFs, named with their page numbers.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly: encrypted files cannot be read. Remove the password first with our free Unlock PDF tool, then split the unlocked copy.
